“Georgia, Felix and Rowan ...take the Tradition forward with their imaginative arrangements and superb musicianship. The future of folk music is safe in the hands of the Georgia Lewis Trio.” – Maggie Coleman (Warwick Folk Club)
Georgia Lewis is folk singer and avid accordionist from the depths of Wiltshire. She studied for her degree in Professional Musicianship at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where she explored a broad range of musical styles, eventually meeting and touring with prog-rock band Maschine, and releasing their first album 'Rubidium' on InsideOut Music. During this time, inspired by singer Sheila Chandra, Georgia also travelled to India to study singing at the Arambol Music Academy.
In 2015 Georgia Lewis and the trio released her self-titled EP. Since then they have performed at many folk clubs and festivals in the south of England and received air-play on various national radio stations including 'The Folk Show with mark Radcliffe' on BBC 2 and the esteemed ‘Mike Harding’s Folk Show’. In 2015 Georgia won ‘The Future of Young Folk Award’ at Bromyard Folk Festival and won the band competition at Ely Folk Festival in 2016. Although an artist in her own right she also performs with the Causeway Céilí Band and is an experienced session player. She sings and plays whistles, accordion, piano, guitar and has been seen tapping out various traditional dancing styles. |
Rowan Piggott grew up in the foothills of the Burren on the west coast of Ireland surrounded by traditional music. Both his father, Charlie (of De Dannan) and his mother, Frances (who taught him the fiddle) were key figures in his musical development.
On moving to England, he studied classical violin and trained as a chorister (performing at Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Royal Albert Hall, Notre Dame etc.) before undertaking a diploma in Jazz at Trinity College of Music. He found it impossible to forsake his heritage however, and has made a successful career playing traditional music all over the world. A familiar face in ceilidh bands across the UK and a constant of the Irish session scene, he also finds time to play with English songstress Rosie Hodgson, Anna Tabbush and the Causeway Céilí Band. Also a serial collector of tunes, he has published both "Swedish Fiddle Tunes" and, more recently "Irish Céilí Tunes". |
Felix "Flex" Miller inherited his passion for the guitar from his father who collected many beautiful instruments during Felix's childhood. Having grown up in Andorra, his spell-binding playing style didn't have the chance to blossom until he moved back to England to study music at Stratford College. Since then, he has mastered everything from heavy rock on an electric, to the subtle finger-tapping techniques of Andy Mckee.
Felix's solid rhythm lies at the core of the group's sound, completing our sonic spectrum with his bassy Martin guitar and the aid of an octave pedal. Whether picking out countermelodies or substituting lush chords for their weaker alternatives, Felix has a natural ear for folk. While he focuses on supporting Georgia in her burgeoning folk career, he also plays for Causeway Céilí Band as well as writing/arranging his own music. |
